On the first day of Christmas break....

Back in 2008 (I had to look it up), I implemented a little family fun tradition we call the "12 days of Christmas break".  I was convicted at that time that my kids did NOT need more stuff.  What we needed was to enjoy our time with one another.
Since that time, we've implemented the tradition...I just haven't really blogged much about it.
I'm hope to be more disciplined this season and post aboutour fun adventures.  I have warned my children that, as always, money is scarce and that we will need to be creative in our "fun making familiness". (Yes, I dust made that up, but it suits our silliness, I think.)

So without further ado, ON the 1st day of Christmas break:
I gave my children these...

Open at EXACTLY 3:04!

Here what the inside said:

In case you can't read the fine print...it says:
What does this mean? You ask...
Well, here are some hints:
Pajamas
Pizza (make your own)
Popcorn
Pillow (bring your own)
And.....Potter!!
This will be a positively pleasurable place to be!
Meet me at 8:04 in the kitchen and let the partay begin.

Here is a progression of our fun pizza making gone horribly wrong.
I'll let you try to figure out where it all went wrong...

Did you happen to notice what the pizzas were on?
That's right, wax paper.  I put our pizzas in the oven on waxpaper.
Silly mama...
I tried to redeem it by fashioning these pizza muffins but it sadly didn't work out  as planned.

SOO I made the hugest tray of nachos my kids had ever seen
AND they learned a valuable lesson about being flexible.

No pictures of the nachos...we gobbled them up too fast.

We ended the night with popcorn and this handsome fellow....

All in all, it was a great evening to kick off our break!
